Accessibility Services

We provide a variety of accessibility services, assistive technology, and other resources to make the library a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

 

Accessible Building Features

  • Accessible parking spaces close to the library entrance
  • Drive-up window
  • Hands-free entrance and exit
  • ADA-compliant interiors
  • Elevator for access to all public service floors
  • Wheelchair available for in-library use
  • Service animals who are trained to work or perform a task for an individual with a disability are welcome.
 

Blind / Low-Vision / Print Disabled

  • Wide selection of large-print books, audiobooks, and eAudiobooks.
  • CD players available for check out.
  • In the Youth Services Department, find braille books for infants and toddlers, Playaway Audiobooks; preloaded MP3 audiobook devices, and Vox and Wonderbooks; print books with a build-in audiobook player.
  • Magnified reader available on the second floor.
  • Access to audio, braille, and downloadable books through the Ohio Library Service to the Blind and Print Disabled.
 

Deaf / Hard of Hearing

  • Assistive listening technology using the Listen Everywhere App is available for all programs in the Library’s Flood Meeting Room. Download the free app for your Apple or Android device and connect your device to your hearing device of choice (earbuds, headphones or hearing aids).
  • Closed captioning is enabled for all virtual programs
  • Sign language interpretation is provided upon request.
 

Homebound Delivery

When you cannot come to the library, let the library come to you! Please visit the Homebound page for more information.

 

Memory Care

A variety of resources designed for people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory loss, or cognitive impairment and their caregivers.

  • Themed memory care kits, available for checkout.
  • Memory Care cafes and other supportive programming.
  • Resource materials for caregivers.
  • Selection of classic books adapted for the reader living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
 

Sensory Needs

  • Noise-cancelling headphones available at all public service desks.
  • Sensory kits for check-out contain headphones, weighted blankets, fidget toys, etc.
  • A special quiet area for sensory-sensitive children is available during large children’s programs.
  • Sensory Storytimes and Sensory Saturdays for young neurodiverse children. See family programs page for information.
