Fine-free status is available for most Hudson-owned library materials (with some exceptions)

Patrons will be charged the replacement cost for items that are 30 days overdue. Patrons may still incur fines from resource materials borrowed from other libraries. For more information about fine-free status, please contact the library at 330-653-6658 x 1040.

    Library Card Rules

    • Please have your library card for all transactions.
    • You may borrow up to 100 items on your card.
    • Your library borrowing privileges will be suspended when the amount of unpaid fines reaches $25.00 or there are 20 or more overdue items on the card.
    • If your account balance is 60 days past due and equals $50 dollars or more, the library forwards your account to Unique Management Services, Inc., a library materials recovery agency. A service charge of $10 is added to your account. Unique Management Services will contact you to request the return of the overdue materials and payment of all outstanding charges.

The purpose of fines is not to punish borrowers. Instead, the goal is to have library materials returned so that they can be used by other library patrons.

    How to Renew Library Materials

The catalog will attempt to automatically renew materials except for downloadable eMedia (ebooks and audiobooks), “Tech-to-Go” items, Hot Picks and overdue items – these cannot be renewed automatically. Items also cannot be auto-renewed if:

    • Someone else has placed a hold on the item.
    • The item has reached its renewal limit (see above for individual item renewal limits).
    • Your account is blocked due to excess fines.

If the item cannot be renewed, you will receive a courtesy notice by phone, email or text before it is due. You will still be responsible for lost or damaged library items that have been billed to your account.

Questions? Have your library card handy.

    How to Pay Library Fines

In Person: Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted at the library’s circulation desk.

Online: Go to My Account and login. Follow the directions under your account information to pay fines using a credit card.
