Get a Library Card

A library card will allow you to check out library books, DVDs, audiobooks, tech devices like Rokus, museum passes, and more from 44 library systems across 12 counties in Northeast Ohio.

Your library card will also give you access to valuable resources from home like eBooks, digital magazines, and online resources like Consumer Reports, online courses, research databases, and more. Library cards are required to check out materials.

Who is Eligible?

  • Free to any resident of the State of Ohio (identification required, see below).
  • Children age 18 and under will need a parent or guardian to co-sign the application and present address confirmation.

How Do I Get a Card?

Library Card Application

Print and complete a library card application and bring it to the library. Applications are also available in the library.

Identification with current address is required before a card is issued. A P.O. Box is not a sufficient address.

Library Card Rules

  • Patrons may borrow up to 100 items at one time.
  • A patron’s library borrowing privileges will be suspended when the amount of unpaid fines reaches $25 or there are 20 or more overdue items on the card.
  • If your account balance is 60 days past due and equals $50 or more, the library forwards your account to Unique Management Services, Inc., a library materials recovery agency. A service charge of $10 is added to your account. Unique Management Services will contact you to request the return of the Overdue materials and payment of all outstanding charges.

The purpose of overdue fines is not to punish borrowers. Instead, the goal is to have library materials returned so that they can be used by other library patrons.

eCard

If you can’t visit us in person, apply for an eCard to access all remotely accessible digital resources including emedia and research databases.

You do not need an eCard if you have a standard Hudson Library card.

  • You are only permitted either a standard library card or an eCard.
  • You cannot be issued a Hudson ecard if you already have a card at another CLEVNET Library.
