The Hudson Library and Historical Society is dedicated to providing a welcoming and safe environment for patrons of all ages. It encourages children to use its facility and services. Responsibility for the behavior and well-being of these children, however, rests solely with the parent/guardian/caregiver and not with the library’s personnel. Library staff cannot supervise children while doing their jobs. Therefore, the safety of all children left alone in the library is a critical concern. Young children left on their own can often become frightened and disoriented. If they wander through the library unattended they may encounter serious hazards that can compromise their safety.
In an effort to provide a library environment that affords all patrons the ability to utilize library resources and services in a safe and relaxed manner, the Hudson Library and Historical Society has adopted the following procedures regarding unattended children:
